"What is Eucharistic Adoration?” That’s a question we often hear from those new to the faith or searching for ways to deepen their relationship with Jesus Christ. Adoration is a way to be present with the Lord and focus on actively listening to His word through prayer. During Eucharistic Adoration, the faithful pray to Jesus Christ, who is present in the Eucharist. The Eucharist, also referred to as the Blessed Sacrament, is kept in the tabernacle at each of our worship sites. While it is true that you can pray to God anywhere and that He is always within you, it is especially powerful to adore Jesus in the Eucharist. In the presence of the Eucharist, we pray to the power and sacrifice that it represents — the body of Jesus, who gave His life so that we may live.
Eucharistic Adoration takes place each Tuesday following 9 AM Mass at St. Bernard, and each First Friday following 9 AM Mass at Sacred Heart.
Every vocation in the Church comes from and through Christ Jesus. It is He who calls. Spending time in Eucharistic Adoration with our Divine Lord and Friend is a good place to go to ask what he wants with our life. Why not spend some time each week in adoration, in union, in contemplation of the Lord present in the Eucharist?
The Catechism quotes Pope John Paul II: "The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration, in contemplation full of faith, and open to making amends for the serious offenses and crimes of the world. Let our adoration never cease." (CCC, 1380)
This time of Exposition of Blessed Sacrament provides us with a unique opportunity to deepen our connection with Christ, to meditate on His boundless mercy, and to seek His grace in fostering a heart of forgiveness. In this year of Eucharistic Renewal, Archbishop Blair has called each parish to have weekly exposition. We hope you will make plans to join fellow parishioners in this worship.
